We are a full service general dental practice that accepts adults and children of all ages.  Dr. Chamberlin has more than 30 years experience performing the services listed below.  We understand that patients do not want to be shuffled from one dental office to another, so we perform most procedures in our own office.  If we decide you do need the services of a dental specialist, we will be happy to help coordinate a referral to a competent, experienced dental specialist.

Preventative Care:

  • Cleanings
  • Fluoride Treatments
  • X-rays
  • Sealants:

Sealants are a thin plastic film that is bonded to the natural grooves and pits in the chewing surfaces of the teeth. They must be placed soon after a permanent tooth has broken through into the mouth. Once a tooth has been exposed to the oral environment for more than a few months, decay causing bacteria may have already started to work deep below the surface. Therefore, around the ages of 6 – 12-years old are crucial times for a patient to visit the dentist, as this is when most permanent teeth erupt through the gums. Sealants are relatively inexpensive, painless, and covered by many dental insurance policies. By placing sealants on time, you child will avoid permanent damage to teeth caused by cavities that inevitably form in the grooves and pits of molars. They can proudly remain cavity free in these areas of their teeth.
  • Decay Prevention Therapy:

Cavities used to be considered an inevitable disease.  Science now understands the causes of dental cavities.  New research shows that we can treat this disease by attacking the bacteria and the oral environment that makes some people more susceptible to decay than others.  We have special programs in our office to attack this disease at its cause.  You do not have to live with cavities, or the fear of getting cavities, for the rest of your life!
  • Snoring and Sleep Apnea Appliances:

The SomnoMed MAS™ is an oral appliance, which fits over the upper and lower teeth, much like a sports mouthguard. Unlike a sports mouthguard, however, it is a precision-made, clinically-tested medical device, which is highly effective (in most cases) in preventing snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. For more information, please visit www.somnomed.com
  • Athletic Mouthguards
  • Appliances to Prevent Damage from Tooth Grinding:

Does your jaw or teeth hurt when you wake up in the morning?  Do you have difficulty opening your mouth when you wake up?  Are your teeth sensitive to cold drinks?  Do your muscles ache or do you suffer from headaches when you wake up?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you may be grinding your teeth at night.  This condition is known as bruxism.  Bruxing or tooth grinding can wear away tooth enamel and expose the next layer of tooth structure.  A nightguard is a custom fitted acrylic material that covers either the upper or lower teeth to prevent the biting surfaces of the teeth from coming into contact.  It is easy to insert and remove, and it is easy to wear while sleeping.  It is important to combat bruxism because it can cause muscle pain, tooth wear and the need to replace fillings more often.

Smile Therapy:

  • Tooth Whitening – one visit in office
  • Tooth Whitening – Dentist supervised
  • Invisalign® (Invisible Braces):

Invisalign is a way to straighten teeth without using wires or brackets. Instead, the patient wears a series of custom fitted, perfectly clear aligners that put pressure on the teeth to move them. Each set of aligners is worn for about 2 weeks, and the typical case takes 15-25 sets of aligners Treatment usually takes 9-15 months. During that time, you will need to visit us every 4-6 weeks monitoring and adjustments.

For more information, please visit www.invisalign.com.
  • Non-Orthodontic Tooth Alignment:

The combination of veneers, crowns and bridges in an artistic and functional fashion can provide what has been referred to as “instant orthodontics”. This technique can be utilized to create the illusion of straight teeth without the time, effort and discomfort often associated with years of braces. In addition, it can be used functionally to change the way teeth relate to each other to correct bite problems. In as little as two visits, we can change the position, color, shape and size of the teeth to give you a completely new smile!
  • Bonding
  • Porcelain Veneers:

Porcelain veneers are among the most conservative of aesthetic dental restorations.  They offer vitality and beauty that is so life-like that people will never doubt that they are your natural teeth.  At the same time, porcelain veneers are incredibly strong.  When bonded with today’s adhesive technology and procedures, they can increase and restore a tooth’s strength.  Generally, a veneer can correct or enhance any cosmetic situation. A thin layer of the tooth is removed to allow a custom, porcelain tooth facing to be bonded to the tooth.  This allows us to lighten dark or discolored teeth, fix fractured or chipped teeth, and straighten crooked or misaligned teeth without the need for braces.  Veneers can also close gaps and increase the length and size of teeth that have worn down over time.  Amazingly, all of this can usually be accomplished in only two visits!
  • All Ceramic Crowns:

Most of us have noticed a friend or family member with one or more teeth with an unsightly “dark line” around the gum of the tooth.  In most situations, this is due to a combination of a dark metal substructure inside the crown (cap), and the resulting effect it has on the root of the tooth.  Advances in dental materials now allow us to eliminate this appearance by eliminating the use of metal.  The crown is now made of all ceramic material that makes for a natural looking tooth.
  • Tooth Colored Fillings:

In our office, we only use tooth colored fillings.  These fillings are made of a plastic composite material that is bonded to the enamel and dentin.  Composite tooth colored fillings can be used to fill small to medium size cavities.
We do not place any fillings which contain mercury or any other metals.  Composite “white” fillings can be used to replace existing mercury containing fillings which are leaking or discoloring the tooth.  Composite fillings do a superior job of sealing the tooth compared to silver fillings.  Our office uses the safest techniques available when removing old mercury containing fillings from your mouth.
  • Full Mouth Reconstruction and Rehabilitation:

Full mouth rehabilitation or reconstruction can be necessary for cosmetic or functional reasons – or both.  This treatment is needed when teeth are worn down, broken, missing, or decayed.  Your entire mouth can be rejuvenated in just a few visits.  Dr. Chamberlin has extensive experience with full mouth rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Tooth Replacement:

  • Dental Implants:

Implants are used to replace a tooth that has already been lost.  They can help hold dentures in place, replace one tooth, or even replace a full arched bridge.  Implants are frequently the treatment of choice to replace what has already been lost, rebuild a collapsed bite, or replace a tooth when the patient does not want a bridge.  Implant technology has come a long way in the past two decades, and the results are now so predictable as to make placing implants and restoring them the treatment of choice in many situations.
  • Fixed Bridges:

A bridge is a custom device anchored to neighboring teeth that replaces one or more missing teeth.  When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic (replacement) tooth in place.  Crown and bridges are most commonly prepared from high quality materials such as semi-precious or precious metals, porcelain or fused combination of the two.  Aesthetics, function and tissue compatibility are considered when selecting the material most suitable for you.
